Billy’s music is like a trip to Key West via “The Twilight Zone”. He specializes in intimate venues (decks, docks, private parties etc) where he can connect with the audience and make them part of the fun. Billy’s performance philosophy is “It’s all about the audience... whatever it takes to get them going”. Requests are accepted and yes, he’ll gladly play “Margaritaville”, or ”The Gambler” as well as a large repertoire of oldies, classic rock, beach songs, and his own unique original material. In fact, the wide range of music from Buffett to the Beatles to Creedence and the Eagles and in between along with audience participation is all part of the experience. Billy has been entertaining for over 20 years, performing locally at Christie’s in Newport, The Harbourside in East Greenwich; Hanson’s Landing in South Kingstown; regionally in venues like Dick’s Last Resort in Boston and The House of Blues on Sunset Strip in L.A. Billy originally sang in a cappella doo-wop quartet The Hudsons, and is front man for local Classic Rock band New York Minute , in addition to his solo engagements. He is a published ASCAP songwriter with a catalog of over 40 original songs represented in Nashville by Springbarrel Songwriter Services. With music inspired by the attitude of Jimmy Buffett, the wit of Shel Silverstein and the eccentricity of John Prine, few people can connect with an audience and crawl inside their heads like Billy Mitchell.
